Why it matters
Proofread hashes the document files into a manifest, then anchors that manifest with OpenTimestamps on Bitcoin. The blockchain does not store the document. It stores durable evidence that this exact set of files already existed when the Bitcoin block was mined. If any chapter, translation, or metadata file changes later, its hash changes and the proof no longer matches. That gives readers a simple way to verify integrity over time.
